Statement from U.S. Senate Candidate Jason Lewis on SCOTUS Nominee

September 26th, 2020

EAGAN, Minn. — Today, President Donald Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis released the following statement in reaction to the President’s nomination.

“Today, President Trump put forth his nomination for the highest court in the land, and I think he has made a superb choice in Judge Amy Coney Barrett. The Senate should work to confirm her as soon as possible, ensuring we have a full Supreme Court heading into Election Day. Considering Democrats are insisting that mail-in ballots be counted after election day and are already urging Biden to refuse to concede, the potential exists for the election results to be in question and it’s possible the Supreme Court could be called upon to adjudicate the outcome.

“Our constitutionally guaranteed rights to life, liberty and property are under assault in this nation as the far-left abandons the rule of law and threatens to pack our courts to push through their radical agenda, siding with the far-left mob over the people of our great nation.

“Senator Tina Smith claims to represent women, but she’s already pledged to block Judge Barrett, a brilliant and accomplished jurist. This is just the height of hypocrisy. President Trump’s Supreme Court nomination not only reflects the priorities of Minnesotans and our country, but also puts an even greater emphasis on what is at stake with Minnesota’s Senate race. Together, Minnesotans will stand up and push back against radical liberals like Tina Smith who is waging war on our values by pushing for gun and ammo grabs and supporting post birth abortion.”
