Lewis Joins Vice President Pence at “Cops for Trump” Event in Minneapolis
September 24th, 2020
MINNEAPOLIS — Today,
U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis joined Vice President Mike Pence and
Ivanka Trump at a “Cops for Trump” listening session in Minneapolis.
Lewis tore into the reckless defund the police movement and how critical
it is for communities to support police officers and ensure public
safety in our communities.
“I didn’t know much about cops until I married one. But I learned
firsthand about the sacrifices they make and the risks they take to
protect our communities and keep them safe. Unfortunately, Minneapolis
is now the epicenter of the radical defund the police movement and we’re
already starting to see the consequences. This far-left anarchist
agenda has left our city in chaos, and average citizens are the ones
paying the price. My opponent Tina Smith said police play a ‘dangerously
wrong’ role in society and is calling to ‘reimagine’ policing, and
Minneapolis residents are seeing firsthand what you get when you
reimagine and defund police. It’s time to restore common sense and
support the men and women who work tirelessly and put their lives on the
line every day to keep our communities safe,” said Lewis. “Thank you to
Vice President Pence, Ivanka Trump, and the Trump campaign for coming
to Minnesota to listen to our law enforcement community and show support
for our police.”
Lewis has been endorsed by several law enforcement groups across Minnesota. See endorsement letters and pledges below:
