U.S. Chamber of Commerce Endorses Lewis as Pro-Business Candidate

EAGAN, Minn. — In a virtual event this afternoon, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce officially announced their endorsement of U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis. The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation and represents the interests of more than 3 million businesses and organizations.
“In difficult times, we are reminded of the importance of having leaders that understand the genius of the American system of government and free enterprise and who are willing to tackle the hard problems that confront our nation,” said U.S. Chamber CEO Thomas J. Donohue. “As our country faces many challenges and is collectively working to not just reopen our economy, but return to growth and expanded opportunities for all Americans, we need leaders like Jason Lewis. He has a proven track record of leading responsibly and standing up for good policies. The U.S. Chamber is proud to endorse Jason and looks forward to partnering with him in the future.”
In a statement, Lewis said, “I am proud to accept the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. I spent much of my early years working for the family business, Lewis Motor Supply, Inc. The business, which my grandfather started with just an eighth-grade education, grew into a successful enterprise that spanned over 50 years. It was a multi-generational success that was passed down the family line from my grandad to my father and then to myself along with my sisters until a state eminent domain project acquired our property in the mid-80s.
“Businesses of any size are our most crucial American institutions, and I am proud to be a pro-business legislator. In Congress, I was honored to help businesses by working to pass historic tax cuts and regulatory reforms. The work we did in the 115th Congress led to the best economy in American history, and I look forward to continuing this progress in the Senate. Because of that success, it’s all the more striking that my opponent is embracing the Biden tax increase plan of $4 trillion—not to mention reinstating the regulatory burden that I was proud to help repeal.
“Going forward, we must do everything we can to support our business community as we recover from the pandemic. This means lifting once and for all the onerous lockdown measures that have suffocated businesses of all sizes and continuing to push targeted COVID relief to help businesses get back on their feet. Now more than ever, Minnesotans need pro-business legislators to combat the overreaching lockdowns and get our economy booming again, and I will do just that.”
