Lewis Statistically Tied With Senator Tina Smith in Latest Polling

August 11th, 2020

EAGAN, Minn. — U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis released the following statement after the latest round of public polling released today by Emerson College shows Lewis and Senator Tina Smith in a statistical tie for the United States Senate race (Source: TheHill.com). The poll shows Smith garnering 48% and Lewis earning 45%, with a margin of error of just under 4%. The poll also shows President Trump (47%) statistically tied with Joe Biden (50%).

This poll comes on the heels of a new ad buy by the Lewis for Senate campaign which correctly points out that Senator Tina Smith blocked COVID relief twice while finding time to dump $1 million dollars’ worth of personal stock holdings as the market was crashing. It also comes one day after two endorsement tweets from President Trump.

“These results show what I’ve been saying and what we’ve been feeling on the ground for the last year of this campaign. Voters are sick and tired of Senator Tina Smith putting her personal financial interests and her radical, left- wing agenda ahead of the interests of Minnesotans, just like she did when she twice blocked COVID relief while simultaneously selling off $1 million dollars’ worth of personal stock holdings. Tina Smith also has no problem sacrificing American jobs for her own financial gain, lining her campaign’s pockets with cash from multinational corporations that are sending American jobs overseas.

Her radical left-wing agenda belongs on the ash heap of history, not in the United States Senate. The more that voters learn about Senator Tina Smith, the more trouble she’ll find herself in. Whether it’s her calls to decimate Medicare as we know it, or her hostile views toward mining, energy, logging and agriculture, her calls for higher taxes, or her refusal to denounce efforts to abolish the police, Minnesotans are turning on Tina Smith, and for good reason.

As your next Senator I will fight to protect the tax cuts I worked with President Trump to implement, protect our communities by backing the police and protecting your Second Amendment rights, I’ll secure Minnesota jobs by taking on China, and fight for good-paying agricultural, mining, energy and logging jobs in Greater Minnesota. Most importantly though, I will always put Minnesota first, not my own financial and political interests as Senator Tina Smith has shamefully done time and again.”
