Lewis Celebrates Primary Victory, On to the General Election with Huge Momentum

August 11th, 2020

EAGAN, Minn. — U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis released the following statement after overwhelmingly winning the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. The victory comes after the latest Emerson College poll showing Lewis and Senator Tina Smith in a statistical tie.

“I am grateful for the overwhelming support our campaign has received so far, and I am honored to be your Republican nominee for U.S. Senate here in Minnesota. With the primary behind us, we are now turning 100% of our attention to the general election and the fight to take back this seat. Which is bad news for Tina Smith, because the more her record is scrutinized, the more the voters turn on her, evidenced by the fact we are now tied in the polls.

There has never been a more important election. This race has turned into a choice between public safety and anarchy, freedom and tyranny, capitalism and socialism. We can’t afford to get this one wrong.

Today’s poll and our resounding Primary victory shows Minnesotans are disgusted by the Democrats’ radical plunge into socialism and lawlessness and they are ready to make a change, and that is going to start with replacing Senator Tina Smith.

When she isn’t putting her personal financial interests above her constituents, Senator Tina Smith is pushing radical proposals that would harm everyday Minnesotans. Her hostile views toward mining, energy, logging, and agriculture have compromised thousands of Minnesota jobs. Her calls to raise taxes and decimate Medicare as we know it would hurt people in every corner of this state. And her refusal to denounce the efforts to abolish police makes every Minnesotan less safe. And that’s when she isn’t lining her campaign’s pockets with tens of thousands of dollars from multinational corporations that outsource Minnesota jobs to China.

This is my promise to Minnesotans: I will be your voice. Not just now when I want your vote, but as your next Senator. Unlike Senator Tina Smith, I will always put Minnesotans first, not my own financial and political interests.”
