Lewis Slams Smith’s Vote to Remove President Trump
February 5, 2020
WOODBURY, Minn. – U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis issued the following statement after the Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump and Senator Tina Smith voted to remove him from office.
“Today, the Senate did the right thing and voted to acquit President Donald Trump, but Senator Tina Smith has proven once and for all that she is all-in with the unhinged radicals that have taken over the Democratic Party. From the very beginning, impeachment has been nothing more than a partisan smear aimed at undoing the 2016 election and the will of the people. Tina Smith and the Democrats have spent weeks dragging out this impeachment hoax, preferring to play politics rather than do their jobs. Today the nonsense finally came to an end, and we can move forward with the nation’s business,” Lewis said.
“Tina Smith’s vote is an embarrassment to the sensible Minnesotans she purports to represent. Minnesotans deserve better, and she will face judgement day at the ballot box this November 3 rd . It’s time we send someone to the U.S. Senate who puts the interests of Minnesotans and the nation first, not Tina Smith who serves her own partisan political interests above all else,” Lewis concluded.
